Inspired by a visit to The Gagosian Gallery in New York City’s Chelsea neighborhood, these photo illustrations aim to combine the old with the new. Using a color palette similar to one piece from Mary Weatherford’s exhibit I’ve seen Gray Whales Go By, digital elements of color are juxtaposed with a more traditional art form - photography.
The pieces in Weatherford’s show consist of large canvases comprised of spontaneously positioned paint surmounted by one or more carefully shaped and placed colored neon tubes. You can visit the Gagosian site here to view the unique creations.
